The skeletons of lake is at a height of (16,500)feet,in middle of most uninhabitatable part of himalayas and also roopkund lake, covered with snow and surrounded by rtock-strewn glaciers, popularly known as Skeleton Lake or Mystery Lake 

The spine -chilling attraction of this lake , the 600 odd human skeletons that were discovered here .

These date of  9th CE and are clearly visible at the bottom of the lake when the snow melts .

The locals believes that this entourage had earned the fury of the local deity , who sent a terrible hailstrom their way , which eventually killed them totally .

 According to experts, travelers and locals showered, made up of stones the size of a cricket ball. Since there was no place in the valley to escape, huge hailstones fell upon the unprotected head and shoulders of pilgrims, inflicting fatal injuries.
